HistoryThis 1991 photo shows Adam Stickney's first (of what was to be many) jobs in the masonry trade, here helping his father Lance cut some bricks on a masonry saw. It sure was a messy job, but the 10-year-old was hooked, and, in time decided to follow in the family tradition. Adam represents the sixth generation in a family of masons. His great-great-great grandfather, a stonemason, immigrated from Ireland in 1850. Around the turn of the century, his great-grandfather owned a large mason contracting business in Beverly, Massachusetts, employing over 200 workers. And, after having worked for 17 years in a company started by his father in 1945, Lance, a Wentworth Institute graduate, started his own mason contracting business in Boxford, Massachusetts in 1989. Adam's grandfather has long since retired, but he, his dad, and many of his uncles and cousins still remain active in the masonry business today. |

TodayAfter having vacationed in Andover for many years, Adam and Lance relocated to Maine and founded Andover Masonry, a company specializing in residential and small commercial work. From small masonry repairs to huge multi-story chimney masterpieces, stone fireplaces and antique fireplace reproduction/restoration are special areas of interest and expertise. |
